In 1964 a group of blues aficionados, including Dick Waterman, drove to Robinsonville to look for House, only to learn he had long retired from music and had moved in 1943 to Rochester, New York. His subsequent “rediscovery” was reported in Newsweek, and Waterman would manage House’s comeback career, often booking him as the closing act at festivals. The most notable of the albums House recorded was the 1965 Columbia LP Father of Folk Blues. House performed little after the early ‘70s, and from 1976 until his death on October 19, 1988, he lived in Detroit with his wife Evie, whom he had married in Robinsonville in 1934. Both men soon returned to the Delta, working at various jobs and playing at dances, juke joints and picnics throughout the rest of the 1930’s. House’s next recordings were with Alan Lomax for the Library of Congress in 1941 when he did 6 songs at Lake Cormorant Mississippi; it was during the same few days that Lomax recorded Muddy Waters at Stovall’s Plantation.

The other titles, Son’s famous Jinx Blues and The Pony Blues, a variant of his earlier Shetland Pony Blues, have recently been reissued on Roots. A legend in his own lifetime is one of the great misused phrases, but it could be fitted into every sentence of Son’s eulogy. He is now in frail health and suffers from short pangs; his hands are badly frostbitten and he knows that his time will come. For a man of 69, it had been a strenuous tour, recording an album one minute, then appearing for the BBC, then a long drive to a northern venue, back to London’s 100 Club and so on. The music from both sessions and most of the recorded interviews have been reissued on LP and CD. Yarl mixed up the street name of the house where he was sent to pick up his siblings.

According to author Bobbi Zane, somewhere around late 1975, proprietor Joe Lawler turned his long-running scrapyard into a live performance venue known as the Junk Yard Theater. As Zane states, “He’d been donating props occasionally for various productions and his shop was well known to many actors. One day an actor strode into the shop and suggested, ‘Why don’t you make a theatre out of the junk yard? ’  The idea struck home, and in short order Lawler had cleared the yard and had his first production underway.

Muddy recalled that Son came from a plantation east of Clarksdale and played with the neck of a bottle over his little finger. Muddy admits to getting the idea from Son House, but felt that Son never came over as well on record as his live performances. I spent eight days in jail in New York City, but the judge and everybody, they knew it wasn’t my fault, and that I had to do it, and they let me go out on probation or somethin’.

The property, built in the 1930s, belonged to the estate of Lee Phillip Bell, who died earlier this year and was best known for co-creating the soap operas The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless with her late husband, William. It was previously owned by other celebrities, including actor Charles Boyer and Howard Hughes, who leased the mansion to his onetime lover Katharine Hepburn. Yarl testified at the hearing that he rang the doorbell and then reached for the storm door as Lester opened the inner door. Lester’s attorney in the criminal case, Steve Salmon, said he is evaluating the civil complaint and will discuss it with Lester. He said at a preliminary hearing for the criminal case that Lester was acting in self-defense, terrified by the stranger who knocked on his door as he settled into bed for the night. Then-Sheriff Alex Villanueva announced the following week that an investigation was underway into the boy's death.

Looking back over it – three Jewish kids had a yellow Volkswagen with New York plates, we had like no sane reason to be here but we came down and we were looking for Robert Johnson, Son House, Skip James, any of them we could find. He was not a guitarist of great technical ability, or even an original pioneer of Delta blues. That accolade sits more comfortably with the earlier likes of Charley Patton, who became something of a travel companion to House, having seen him busking at a station in Mississippi. The death of Blind Lemon Jefferson was recent news, and House remembered him with a song based on his See That My Grave Is Kept Clean. It took three quarters of a century before a copy of this Paramount 78 was found. Son House and Dick Waterman have an acute understanding and Son is obviously pleased that Dick gave him the chance to work again.

The family of a Black teenager who was shot by a white homeowner when he mistakenly went to the wrong Kansas City, Missouri, address filed a lawsuit Monday, described by the family’s attorney as an attempt to put pressure on the criminal trial later this year. In “Alley Cat,” the Squad 51 paramedics are called to a scrapyard to help a junk dealer who has gotten his foot stuck in a bear trap. Amazingly, the 7-Eleven they pass (marked with pink arrows) is still there today, though its signage no longer looks as it did at the time of the filming. Eddie James House, Jr. (March 21, 1902 – October 19, 1988), better known as Son House, was an influential blues singer and guitarist.

It states that Yarl suffered and sustained permanent injuries, as well as pain and suffering, as a direct result of Lester’s actions. "At any given time, the Department of Children and Family Services serves more than 34,000 families and vulnerable children in Los Angeles County with an unwavering commitment to pursue child safety every day in our communities," the statement read. "Our 9,000 employees are committed to this mission, and we look to do everything possible to safeguard the children entrusted to our care." "Noah's death was tragic and we all mourn his passing," Hathaway-Sycamores CEO Debbie Manners said in a statement. Jose Maria Cuatro Jr., 32, was sentenced to 32 years to life in prison, while Ursula Elaine Juarez, 30, received 22 years to life for Noah Cuatro's death, which was initially reported as a drowning.

He more than made up for his lack of conventional technique with his powerful and innovative style featuring very strong, repetitive rhythms, often played with the aid of a bottleneck, coupled with singing that owed more than a nod to the hollers of the chain gangs. The music of Son House, in contrast to that of, say, Blind Lemon Jefferson, was emphatically a dance music, meant to be heard in the noisy atmosphere of a barrelhouse or other dance hall. House was an important influence on not only Muddy Waters but also Robert Johnson, who would later take his music to new levels. It was House who, speaking to awe-struck young blues fans in the 1960s, spread the legend that Johnson had sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for his musical powers. More recently, House's music has influenced rock groups such as the White Stripes, who covered his song Death Letter on their album De Stijl, and later performed it at the 2004 Grammy Awards.

Of all the characters that feature in tales of blues from the early 1900s, singer and guitarist Son House is one of those most regularly cited by present-day enthusiasts. Another track from House’s “rediscovery” LP, this song, like Death Letter, remained in his repertory for the rest of his life. Here Canned Heat guitarist Al Wilson underpins House’s guitar part, accelerating with him to a triumphant climax. Lomax asked for unaccompanied “field hollers” and House obliged with this medley of verses from prison and levee camp life, appreciated and encouraged by his fellow musicians.

Infamous for its distinctive design and colorful history, the Sowden House has hosted everything from photoshoots and non-profit events to films and TV shows. There are even suspicions that the house might hold the key to the notoriously unsolved “Black Dahlia” murder case of 1947. It is difficult to describe the transformation that took place as this smiling, friendly man hunched over his guitar and launched himself, bodily it seemed, into his music.

A a result of his preaching experience, his blues music had a distinct vocal power and emotional style. Son’s Library Of Congress recordings are significant, for they revealed him as a folk artist as well as a rough-edged blues singer. For example, This War Will Last You For Years is a song about the second world war, the words of which Son still remembers clearly. “There won’t be enough Japs to shoot a little game of crap,” Son recalls with a laugh. But on a more serious note, his County Farm Blues was a straightforward directive at the plantation farm gang system by which he and his fellow men were exploited.

But we had got over into the area around Robinsonville, Lake Cormorant, a little north of Tunica on the old Highway 61 and we found an old man whose son had once been married to Son’s stepdaughter, Mrs House had children by her first marriage. So we found him and he said ‘Yes, I was once married to the daughter of Son and Mrs House’. Then we found her and we talked to her and she said, ‘Oh, yes, they came over to Detroit a couple of years ago’. Musically Son House was not heard of again until 1964, when he was rediscovered in a poor state of health, with a drink problem, living in an apartment with his wife of 30 years.

Some years ago when I was younger I used to get into a little more trouble because I didn’t have the brains I should have had then. If my mind had been like it is now, then I wouldn’ve been stuck in jailhouses and pens,” Son admitted, making his tale sound for all the while as though he were reading it straight from a story book. Yet throughout the entire month, Son was never less than dignified and amicable as he chatted affably with the hundreds of European blues hounds who milled to catch a few words with the great man at every gig he played.

He later attained international prominence during the 1960s “blues revival” through passionate,trance-like performances that highlighted his aggressive guitar style. He would occasionally rise from his chair to sing spirited a cappella gospel songs. In 1928 he served time in the infamous Parchman Farm prison after which he worked with Charley Patton playing levee camps and country dances around Clarksdale, Mississippi. This was for Paramount Records in Grafton Wisconsin in 1930 where he was accompanied by Willie Brown; House cut a total of 10 songs of which 8 were issued.

A year later he cut nine sides for Columbia with the assistance of his old friend Al Wilson from Canned Heat on harmonica. Son cut a further eight tracks for Alan Lomax at the General Store in Robinsonville in 1942, which were among his best sides. The sides are Sun Going Down, I Ain’t Goin’ To Cry No More, This War Will Last You For Years, Am I Right Or Wrong, My Black Mama and County Farm Blues.

And he lived to document his legacy on record, setting a precedent for what blues – and, in turn, rock and roll – could be. Indeed one of the things that separates him from so many of his peers is the fact that he didn’t die young. Passing away in October 1988, at the ripe old age of 86, he lived on to commit his memory to tape when so many other blues players didn’t. “By the time I was 18, somebody played me Son House,” White said in the 2008 rock music documentary It Might Get Loud. At the same time, Son House has marked a penchant for the introductory prefaces to his songs – little fragments of Son House philosophy, mostly with religious connotations, directed at a hushed audience, like a preacher addressing his congregation.

Son House - The essential playlist

Then I went back to the church for a while; cos if I see I’m doing the right thing, then I like to get on one side or the other and not straddle the fence. Since 1966, though, Son House had only recorded once, a very poor performance for Roots which had failed to capture any of the emotion and lyricism which we could expect, prior to his recent tour. These Library Of Congress sides are also important because they marked Son’s final association with the rural south. The following year he moved up to Rochester and lived in relative obscurity until his rediscovery by Dick Waterman in 1964.

Noah Cuatro's parents sentenced to potential life terms for 4-year-old Palmdale boy's death

Son House himself alleged that he was middle aged during World War I, and, more specifically, that he was 79 in 1965, which would mean that he was born around 1886. Throughout the tour – in fact throughout his career – Son has been involved in the church-versus-blues syndrome, and he is still careful to keep his religious and non-religious songs apart. "That afternoon, several children were playing in a bounce house when a strong gust of wind sent it airborne into the neighboring lot," Pinal County Sheriff's Office said. "A two-year-old child was transported to the hospital where he passed away. A second child received non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to the hospital for care." So we pretty much ascertained that Robert Johnson was dead and no one had ever heard of Skip James or anyone who played like him but we backtracked Son House. It turned out that Bukka’s story of seeing him in Memphis was bogus; he had made the story up.

Jack White even named House’s sparse, bewitching a capella number “Grinnin’ in Your Face” as his favorite song. One of the most powerful and influential figures in rural blues, noted for his powerful vocals and vivid steel guitar work. Uncertain but hopeful, a generation of blues enthusiasts bought House’s comeback LP The Legendary Son House – Father Of Folk Blues, put it on, heard this, and breathed a sigh of relief. House testifies from the border between righteous and riotous, the life of a saved man and that of a man lost in the blues. Because of the mystique surrounding that other great Delta bluesman, Robert Johnson, Son House has tended to be slightly overshadowed. Thus it was interesting to hear first-hand of Son’s encounter with Robert and a further aid to understanding the chromatics and semantics of the blues environment.

He was preaching in church by the time he was 15, as well as working a variety of jobs. He taught himself to play the guitar around 1923 and was soon playing house rent parties and local picnics. In the summer of 1970, House toured Europe once again, including an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival; a recording of his London concerts was released by Liberty Records.

The enchanted site, where Malibu Creek meets the Pacific Ocean, was once home to the Chumash Indians, who thrived there until the late 18th century. The Rindge family’s daughter, Rhoda, and her husband, Merritt Huntley Adamson, used the site to construct a beach house, now the historic Adamson House museum. From the Sixties onward, House—his use of National resonator guitars (“Style O”)—influenced music makers from Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, to Jack White, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. Ill health plagued his later years and in 1974 he retired once again, and later moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he remained until his death from cancer of the larynx. Members of the Detroit Blues Society raised money through benefit concerts to put a fitting monument on his grave. But House was a remarkable performer, with one of the most harrowing voices in Mississippi.

During my research, I came across the Sanford and Son publicity shot pictured below. (You can see similar images here, here, here, and here.)  Interestingly, though a sign reading “Sanford and Son Salvage” is positioned on the fence, the photo was obviously not lensed at the Magnolia Boulevard location, being that no house was ever situated there. I am unsure of where exactly the picture was taken or why a different locale was used for it, but if anyone happens to know, please fill me in. Shady Grady finishes up by saying, “Compare that to the opening credits of Sanford and Son and it falls into place. As Lamont pulls in the driveway, you can see a sign in front of the house, to the right of the driveway [pink arrow] and a power pole to the left of the driveway [blue arrow]. Both are in the Google earth photo.”  The building with the angled overhang [purple arrow] seen in the background of the opening credits also remains the same today.

Recorded August 1941, at Klack's Store, Lake Cormorant, Mississippi. There are some railway noises in the background on some titles, as the store (which had electricity necessary for the recording) was close to a branch line between Lake Cormorant and Robinsonville. A 2-year-old boy was killed and another child was injured when a strong gust of wind sent a bounce house they were playing in flying into the neighboring lot, according to police. PALMDALE, Calif. (CNS) -- The parents of a 4-year-old Palmdale boy who was tortured to death in July 2019 were sentenced Tuesday to potential life prison terms. Hunter Biden and his attorneys have sent a letter making several demands of Fox News, including one that threatens litigation if the network does not remove content from its website that includes sexually explicit images of the president’s son. I hit pay dirt thanks to the October 8th, 1977 Valley News article below, which detailed the locale’s transition from a junkyard named “The Select Shoppe” into a theatre.

Shady Grady goes on to say, “Pay attention to the buildings in the background and then go to the address above [10659 West Magnolia Boulevard] in Google Earth. As you look around in street view, you’ll see the stores across the street are still the same.”   Though the corner building (denoted with pink arrows below) at West Magnolia looks a bit different today, it still bears the rounded shape it did on Emergency! House was born, the middle of three brothers, in Riverton, Mississippi, two miles from famed blues capital Clarksdale, Mississippi. Around age seven or eight, he was brought by his mother to Tallulah, Louisiana after his parents separated. The young Son House was determined to become a Baptist preacher, and at age fifteen began his preaching career. Despite the church's firm stand against blues music and the sinful world which revolved around it, House nevertheless became attracted to it and taught himself guitar in his midtwenties, inspired by the work of Willie Wilson.

I Am the Night, inspired by true events and the memoir One Day She’ll Darken, tells the story of Fauna Hodel, a teenage girl who travels to late-1940s Los Angeles to search for someone in her past. Chris Pine plays a reporter who helps Hodel in her treacherous journey into Hollywood’s dark underbelly. From charity galas and private parties to photoshoots and corporate retreats, the Sowden House provides a unique and distinctive setting for any event. The estate features a sprawling living room with a grand piano and dramatic city views, a formal dining room, and an enclosed inner courtyard with a secluded pool and jacuzzi. Intense is the one word that describes Son House (21 March 1902 – 19 October 1988)and his version of the blues. He was a major influence on Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson, like both of them, when Son sang the blues you had to believe him.

In 1930, Art Laibly of Paramount Records traveled to Lula to persuade Patton to record several more sides in Grafton, Wisconsin. Along with Patton came House, Brown, and the pianist Louise Johnson, all of whom recorded sides for the label.[15] House recorded nine songs during that session, eight of which were released, but they were commercial failures. He did not record again commercially for 35 years, but he continued to play with Patton and Brown, and with Brown after Patton's death in 1934. During this time, House worked as a tractor driver for various plantations in the Lake Cormorant area. He quickly developed a unique style by applying the rhythmic drive, vocal power and emotional intensity of his preaching to the newly learned idiom.

In recent years, online retail has experienced tremendous growth, transforming the way we shop for snowboarding gear. While this shift has its advantages, such as convenience and a wider selection, it can never fully replicate the personal touch and sense of community found in a physical store. California has given owners $120 million toward building ADUs, with the last $25 million restricted to those below median income, though without requiring affordable rents. In addition to West Denver’s Single Family+ pilot, other models we could replicate pair forgivable loans or cash in exchange for renting to families who are rent burdened, or with housing vouchers.

More than 650,000 households statewide face significant levels of housing cost burden, most needing rents lower than these market rates. Typical ADU rent would be out of reach for the vast majority of these renters. For example, most burdened renters in Grand Junction or Pueblo need rents below $815 and those in Colorado Springs would struggle if they exceeded $914 for a one-bedroom. State and local action beyond zoning would be necessary to help ADUs reach these families. As such, the target population is described as the growing number of smaller households cross the U.S. and in Colorado, especially older adults.

Based on rents in other states with ADU reforms and Boulder, the “inherent” affordability of ADUs is likely for those earning around 80% of Area Median Income (AMI). That’s two people earning around $62,000 in Colorado Springs, $72,000 in Fort Collins, or around $76,000 in metro Denver/Boulder. Affordable rents for those incomes would range from $1,300 in Mesa County to just below $1,800 in metro Denver for one bedroom. Standard ground shipping is free on orders within the continental U.S. as long as they meet the order minimum of $99.

Their success has been attributed to larger homes, higher median income, and a higher rate of older homeowners, some of whom move into an ADU they financed to be near grandkids in the main house. These indicators point to market ADUs as an important choice for a modest percentage of Colorado seniors with adequate means. One in five Colorado seniors are already “doubled up” with family or another household, according to Colorado Futures Center. But those over 65 are overwhelmingly homeowners, so they’d be giving up equity and stability to rent. Only 15% of ADU occupants in California are older adults.

The Top 35 Event Designers and Their Best Ideas

event design

To do this, you could create a meet-and-greet athon, where everyone at the conference has to introduce themselves to everyone else. You can even incorporate your event app to help facilitate the process. Create an event concept that attendees will talk about for months afterwards through a combination of strategy and creativity. In this article we’ll get into how to do exactly that along with plenty of inspiring examples and ideas. Having one or more of these elements as part of your event will also dictate your event layout design requirements with regard to the following.

Confirm Speakers & Special Guests

Cosplay, artists alleys where artists sell their wares and panels with actors or creators of the media are commonplace at conventions. San Diego Comic Con, Star Trek Las Vegas, and Creation Entertainment’s line up of fan conventions are great examples. Ultimately, we can’t forget about purpose and its central role in event design.

Venue Tools

On a registration site, when a visitor fills out part of the registration and then leaves without finishing the form, that’s counted as an abandon. You want visitors to fill the entire form and complete registration. If your abandon rates are high, figure out what questions led to high abandons.

Logistic Management

With the right tools in place and adequate strategic planning, event marketers can accurately identify potential risks and ensure they're equipped to deliver a successful, safe event. Large or small, local or nationwide, every event is given the same attention to detail to produce an event product that far exceeds client expectations. We specialize in providing in house lighting, florals, prop fabrication, custom draping, staging, and audio/visual services. That way you can collect all the things you have to do and why you’re doing it in one place.

Also, you will want to make sure that any of the venue’s fixtures or larger decor items (think statues, fountains, etc.) don’t impede the flow of your event. Speaking of all those items to be placed, this is the time to consider exactly what kinds and sizes of tables, chairs, stages, furniture, drink stations, booths and floor coverings you will require for your event. Also, consider elevating your stage or dias and positioning aisles and walkways so guests walking back and forth don’t impede the view of seated guests. While unnecessary to reiterate, things happen onsite that you could have no way of predicting. Keep your staff office stocked with sewing needles, a first aid kit, and whatever else might be helpful. You have little chance of anticipating a hungry bird with a taste for finer food flying into your event space, but it’ll be your job to figure out how to react.

ProjectManager Offers Robust Event Planning Tools

The main reason for this is that you need to provide all attendees with adequate sightlines so they can easily see the action up front. Some benefits, such as brand equity, are more intangible and cannot be measured through hard dollars. Brand equity doesn’t deliver immediate monetary rewards, but event attendance has an impact on brand attitudes. Consumers like well-known and admired companies, which leads to doing business with that company. Brand equity can help propel Customer Lifetime Value, the long-term profit contribution from a customer.

Event design element #1: Space

Using a checklist for event planning can be done in conjunction with project planning tools. Also, there are few things more satisfying than crossing something off your list. You have to manually update everything and it’s not very collaborative. Event planning tools, such as Gantt charts, kanban boards, task lists and calendars, help you plan and implement the event plan.

Besides being wildly expensive, they’re hard to track and data is easy to input incorrectly. That’s why websites and registration sites are the new normal when it comes to events. A close relative of lines, forms are the shapes created by outlines of any 3D objects in space, such as furniture, furnishings and structures. Forms help to balance the space, but they can also add drama and character. You can include a mix of shapes (circles, squares, and triangles), or choose to focus on a key one (just circles). What is the common enemy or challenge the attendees face and how can we as event organizer’s help them gain that decisive victory?

Track Event Labor Costs With Timesheets & Real-Time Dashboards

Capturing this trend is a crucial part of setting realistic objectives through event design. Remember when we mentioned letting your audience make some of your event decisions this year? Well it’s no wonder why blank slate periods have become so popular too. Blank slate periods are entire event agenda blocks that are left intentionally empty.

This is the stage where you create the event design that will help you fulfill your goals. This includes your content strategy to drive your agenda design and speaker and engagement strategies and plans. All of those insights require a hefty amount of technology. While in-person events give you some access to data through reservations in specific events within your larger event, in-event surveys, and other processes, virtual events actually let you collect data during every second. You can monitor engagement, track which experiences are the most popular, and troubleshoot more effectively in real-time. Our luxury event planning company provides custom fabrication for staging and branding your event.

Social media continues to be one of the best free promotional channels. Event planners take the lead in identifying and preparing for possible challenges at the event. Figuring this out early will make planning easier in the long run. After all, without this information, you can’t pick a venue, event design, and more. Examples of direct costs include venue costs, food and beverage, travel, entertainment, and rental equipment. Hopefully, you are reconciling your budgets and have a good handle on direct costs.

It appears House of the Dragon will likely run for four seasons, although the reduced episode count could see the story expand into Season 5. In keeping with the show’s name, Condal also told Deadline that there are five new dragons joining season 2. One of that number will be Sunfyre, who is described as "the most beautiful dragon who ever lived", Condal (per EW) says in reference to Martin's novel.

She reluctantly chooses Maelor, but they kill the elder Jaehaerys (Aegon's heir) instead.

LATEST NEWS

To fill the void left by Sapochnik's departure, veteran TV and film director Alan Taylor is joining Season 2 as an executive producer. Taylor's directing credits include seven episodes of Game of Thrones, including Season 1's "Baelor" and Season 7's "Beyond the Wall." Meanwhile, Freddie Fox is set to star as Ser Gwayne Hightower, who is Queen Alicent Hightower's (Olivia Cooke) brother and Otto Hightower's (Rhys Ifans) son. Yes, that means he's also uncle to King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), Queen Helaena (Phia Saban), and Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell).

"House of the Dragon" concentrates on the civil war that takes place about 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones." Known as the "Dance of the Dragons," the devastating conflict pitted Targaryen against Targaryen. Season 1 of House of the Dragon picked up eight Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series (winning for its costumes) as it set up the story of House Targaryen almost 200 years before the events of GoT. Indeed, it has many more episodes in the tank, with Martin telling BangCast that the series' executive team are "planning for the third season." Some pretty positive news, then. With multiple new dragons and fascinating characters, plus a plot ripe for unraveling a thread of deceit, discord, and war, House of the Dragon season 2 will be filled with more of the Game of Thrones' epic tales. Oh, and there'll plenty for those of an action mindset to enjoy, too – Condal telling EW that season 2 has £two of the largest sequences that certainly I've ever done...

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. With opposing claims for the Iron Throne and a slew of skirmishes already under their belt, the two Targaryen factions are on the brink of all-out war. We know the situation is bound to escalate from here because the upcoming conflict is known as The Dance of the Dragons in Game of Thrones. Aegon and Sunfyre are severely wounded, while Meleys is ripped to pieces and Rhaenys burned to death. After Luke's death, Daemon promises Rhaenyra that he will be avenged.

Billed as the first spinoff of many, House of the Dragon released to near-universal praise in 2022, which resulted in HBO greenlighting it for a second season. This summer, audiences are returning to Westeros thanks to the buzzy new series "House of the Dragon." Set 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones," the prequel dives into the history of Westeros, laying the groundwork for the eventual show. Much like the first season of House of the Dragon, new episodes of Season 2 are expected to premiere weekly on HBO and simultaneously onto Max - the newly-rebranded Warner Bros. streaming service, formerly HBO Max. House of the Dragon Season 2 will bring back many key cast members from the first season - including one particularly unexpected return - along with some newcomers. However, one major absentee will come through Paddy Considine's King Viserys I Targaryen after his death last season. HBO is keeping its cards close to its chest when it comes to House of the Dragon season 2's plot.

House of the Dragon Season 2 cast

The second season will depict the aftermath of this event and will majorly highlight Rhaenyra’s response to the loss of her offspring. House of the Dragon’s showrunners have claimed the series will last four seasons, but that may change depending on the story’s direction or show’s popularity. The show itself is set to last four seasons so the final episode of season 2 likely won’t show the conclusion of The Dance of the Dragons. We’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out which Targaryen faction claims the Iron Throne. While the first season of House of the Dragon put family drama and politics center stage, we will see a lot more action going into season 2.

The 10-episode series will have a different pair of showrunners than "Game of Thrones," and will be helmed by Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik. According to Deadline, House of the Dragon Season 2 will consist of eight episodes - two shorter than Season 1 - with HBO said to be eyeing a greenlight for Season 3 to continue the tale of the Dance of Dragons. Deadline has also suggested that season 3 has been "mapped out" for a while, so it's only a matter of time before House of the Dragon season 3 is announced.

According to Variety, the Season 2 production will go unaffected by Hollywood's ongoing writers' strike as all scripts were completed before production. Executive producer Ryan Condal supposedly remained on set in a strictly non-writing production with no editing, no network notes, and no writing. House of the Dragon Season 2 began filming in the United Kingdom in April before moving over to Spain in May, with the season supposedly expected to continue production until around the end of the year.

"We're not gonna suddenly pull away from telling their stories. It's just the nature of this thing, in season 2, it really opens up the world in a big way and the sprawl grows quite a bit." George RR Martin wrote on his blog previously that he was still "thrilled" that the show gets to have "10 hours every season to tell our tale". "When we look at the next 12 to 18 to 24 months, we have all of our four biggest HBO tentpoles – House of the Dragon season 2 coming in June," Perette said, also referring to The Last of Us, Euphoria and The White Lotus.

Trump's presidential campaign sent reporters a “readout” of his meeting with Aso — itself a mirror of how presidents summarize meetings with foreign leaders — and included the photo below. It goes without saying that traditional Japanese housing is absolutely stunning; a true work of art and architecture. Japanese residential structures (Minka) are categorized into four kinds of housing before the modern versions of Japanese homes. The trust a client puts in an architect is directly reflected on the finished building. Try to take control of every tiny little detail and you will probably end up with a lot of good intentions, but a mixed bag of half-baked ideas.

Stroll the Gardens

Chado, or the Way of Tea, is one of the most ancient and revered arts of Japan, and is at the very heart of Japan House. Come to a traditional Japanese tea ceremony to experience and learn the history of this 500 year old art form. The Takamatsu house was built in 1917 in the Sukiya style in Nagoya, and relocated to a scenic part of the Aichi Prefecture in the 80s to save it from destruction. In keeping with the true Sukiya aesthetics of understatement, this large house has an air of modest elegance rather than showy pride. The meditative simplicity of the tea ceremony, or chanoyu, has generated a special architectural style called the Sukiya style, know for its minimalism, simplicity, rusticity, understatement and a restrained playfulness.

Building on our long history of semiconductor cooperation, we intend to establish a joint technology agenda for cooperation on issues such as research and development, design, and workforce development. We also welcome the robust cooperation between and with our private sectors, especially in next-generation semiconductors and advanced packaging. We also plan to work together along with like-minded countries to strengthen global semiconductor supply chains, particularly for mature node (“legacy”) semiconductors through information-sharing, coordination of policies, and addressing vulnerabilities stemming from non-market policies and practices. We also celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a first step in bilateral cooperation on quantum computing. Our global partnership extends to space, where the United States and Japan are leading the way to explore our solar system and return to the Moon.

Most importantly, they promote Japanese traditions like sitting “seiza”, praying, and sleeping on the floor. As you’ll see on the majority of Minka’s, a fully functional, wrap-around hallway of sorts. Not only constructed for the enjoyment and protection from the outdoor elements, but also used in a more traditional sense as a divider between the exterior and interior of the Shoji. A Shoji as a sliding panel or wall can be found in both the interior and exterior of a traditional Minka. Urasenke is one of the main schools of tea in Japan with history and tradition going back 400 years.

Instead, complex wood joints are structurally formed post and beams are held together by specialized joinery. Not only is it a functional and necessary means of building a Minka, but also acts as a sound design feature of the home. In what follows, we’ll discuss the several unique features exclusive to traditional Japanese housing, its purpose, and its history of why the said feature was first implemented. When you think of a traditional Japanese house, you likely picture the embodiment of authentic Japanese architecture typically seen in the movies.

In extreme cases, the best part of a lot was given over to the garden, and the house design on the land left over. Entire shoji walls can be pushed aside, creating an intimate unity with the garden. A surprising intellectual leap in the design of Japanese homes took place during the 14th century, so powerful that it resonated for the next 600 years.

While simplicity and understatement are the hallmarks of Kyoto style, interiors in Osaka often bustle with exuberance and spontaneity. This traditional Japanese house was built in an upscale residential area of Osaka over 70 years ago by the grandfather of the current owner, Teizo Sato. The relationship between the interior and the garden is very important in traditional Japanese architecture. The gardens are design to be viewed from the low vantage point of a person seated in the room or on a tatami mat. From manga to modern architecture, prototyping to paper culture, the Gallery is dedicated to highlighting the best of Japanese culture. Minimal, refined, and intricate, these creators embrace Japanese aesthetics through a myriad of mediums including art, fashion, gastronomy, technology, textiles, and literature.

With this newest opening – a new complex fusing art galleries with residences – the transformation of a sleepy former silk-making city in rural Japan into a major creative hub has taken a leap forward. Innovation has long been threaded through the DNA of the small city, which flourished for centuries as a progressive silk production hub. More recently, countering its industrial decline, its creative projects are increasingly in the spotlight, including the landmark Shiroiya Hotel by Sou Fujimoto which opened in December 2020. Maebashi Galleria, just five minutes on foot from the hotel, was designed by architect Akihisa Hirata. Transparent and light, the four-storey building – configured from 13 staggered layers of stacked box-like units wrapped in greenery, that seemingly hover above the ground – is home to two gallery spaces, 26 residences and the French restaurant Cépages.

There are several unique features of traditional Japanese housing, it’s important to understand why they’re designed the way that they are. Aside from its original roots in history and culture, the Minka has the primary intention of maximizing space and promoting functionality and practicality within the living space. Built between 2010 and 2014, this housing complex, Nishinoyama House, designed by SANAA’s Kazuyo Sejima is located in a suburban area of Kyoto. The scheme contains ten properties that are connected by a unifying structure and multiple gardens and passageways.

We welcome classes and community organizations for tea ceremonies and garden tours for our regularly scheduled times or at other times. Strolling the gardens invites peace and tranquility as you experience the aesthetics of a traditional Japanese environment. We offer tea ceremonies, an art form going back hundreds of years in Japan. It is the highly ritualized serving of a bowl of tea and a sweet to honored guests. Whether you are a student, educator, artist or just a curious person, we invite you to join Japan House's many learning experiences, including tours, cultural events, and of course classes.

We applaud the recent entry into force of the IPEF Supply Chain Agreement. We will continue to seek cooperation on critical minerals projects, including those along the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment Lobito Corridor, and through the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP) as well as the Partnership for Resilient and Inclusive Supply-chain Enhancement (RISE). We are cooperating to deter and address economic coercion, through our bilateral cooperation as well as through our work with like-minded partners including the G7 Coordination Platform on Economic Coercion. We are working to uphold a free, fair and rules-based economic order; address non-market policies and practices; build trusted, resilient, and sustainable supply chains; and promote open markets and fair competition under the U.S.-Japan economic “2+2” and the U.S.-Japan Commercial and Industrial Partnership. We will advance our commitment to operationalize data free flow with trust, including with respect to data security.
